The Team

Give Us a Break 2010 is led by a group of dedicated citizens of West Cumbria who are passionate and committed to make a difference and improve the quality of life for disabled and disadvantaged children and their families and carers. Their backgrounds vary and include parents, teachers, healthcare workers, local business leaders and industrial management executives.

Dawn Dawn Raynor - Founder & Chairperson

Dawn is the founder of this Charity which she established in 2010. She has first hand experience of raising twin boys that suffer with Tuberous Sclerosis, a rare genetic disorder that causes intractable epilepsy. Having identified a huge gap in help and support for families with disable children, she is determined to change things. Dawn is very driven and will turn her dream of a Short Breaks Centre in West Cumbria into reality even though it will probably come too late for her own family.
Dawn has worked as a qualified hairdresser for over 20 years. She has a keen
interest in music and loves to spend time with her boys.

Tracey Tracey Little - Trustee (Deputy Chair)

Tracey has worked for EnergySolutions EU Ltd for the past 5 years.
Tracey has a background in Marketing, Business Development and Office Management.
She is a highly self-motivated individual with exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills.  She has a demonstrable customer focus with excellent communication skills and the ability to assess customer needs.  Responsible for cultivating and maintaining an excellent working relationship with customers and stakeholders.
In her spare time she loves travelling abroad and competing with her horses at County level.

Lisa Lisa Egan - Trustee

Lisa first got involved with GUAB2010 when she met Dawn and her boys at a local Rugby League Game back in 2010.
Lisa works at a local primary school as a Teaching Assistant and through her job has become very aware of the lack of support for children with disabilities and their families. She recently studied and passed a Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification which now means she can teach full classes and plan and asses children's educational progress without a teacher present. She is also able to teach children with special educational and physical needs, having been on various courses to develop her knowledge base.
As a single mum with two children, she fully understands how important the help of family and friends are.
Lisa is an avid fan of Rugby League and has supported and followed her local Whitehaven Team for many years, assisting with fundraising and promoting matches.

Vanessa Vanessa Hall - Director

Vanessa graduated from the University of Liverpool as an Engineer in 1996. She completed her graduate training with BNFL at Sellafield and became an Engineering Manager at the Sellafield MOX plant.
In 2001 she was promoted to manage a site team of Engineers whose aim was to improve the overall efficiency of the site.
After taking a career break in 2003 to raise her 3 children she retrained to become a maths teacher. She currently teaches and tutors up to A level maths and physics in her local area.
She has both technical and managerial experience and knowledge and experience working with and teaching SEN children in West Cumbria. She got involved with the charity in 2013 and is determined to see it through to success.

ChrisChris Hall - Director

Chris graduated from Liverpool University as a Doctor in 1995. Following his General Practice training in hospitals and GP Practices around West Cumbria, he joined Westcroft House Surgery in Egremont as a Partner in 1999, becoming Senior Partner in 2009. He was forced to retire from the medical profession in 2012 after being diagnosed with cancer. Chris and his wife Vanessa now own and run their own business, H3Orlando, providing luxury holiday rental villas in Kissimmee, Florida.
His interests include motorcycling, I.T. and ju jitsu.

clingan-jane-web4 Jane Clingan - Director

Jane is an Associate and business manager at David Allen Chartered Accountants.  She lives in Arlecdon with her husband James and two children, Oliver and Elizabeth. She was brought up in the area and attended Wyndham secondary school and sixth form college before going onto gain a first class honours degree in business administration at the University of Northumbria.  Jane started her career in accountancy at David Allen as a trainee accountant and now heads up their Workington office.

jackie_blacklock Jackie Blacklock - Director

Jackie is the Human Factors and Ergonomics Specialist at the National Nuclear Laboratory. She is also a Safety Analyst the NNL and writes safety cases for the nuclear industry.  Her qualifications include a masters degree in Systems, Safety and Ergonomics and she also holds a NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.
Jackie worked as a volunteer for Howgill Family Centre on the Special Needs Playschemes aged 13 - 16. At 18 she gained her National Nursery Examination Board Certificate and worked in Greece as a nanny.  On returning to the UK she worked in Social Services and Education with both children and adults with physical and learning disabilities.
As Dawn’s step-mum, and step-gran to Dawn’s children, she sees the daily strains placed on families of children with special needs and believes that the RaynorShine Centre will greatly enhance the quality of lives of similar families in West Cumbria.
Jackie's interests include reading, gardening, handicrafts and spending time with family & friends.

sandra Sandra Lee - Fundraising Manager

Sandra has been with the Give us a Break 2010 team since January 2013.
She became involved with the charity after being inspired by Dawn and her children's plea for a short break centre in West Cumbria.
Sandra has worked in the Nuclear Industry as a Quality Engineer for 12 years. She lives in Egremont with her two children Joel and Leonie and is a carer for her elderly mother.
Sandra is very passionate about helping the Charity to obtain its goals. She very much enjoys working with a team of dedicated people with the common goal of obtaining enough funds to build and sustain a short break centre for disabled and disadvantaged children in West Cumbria.
